Tackley - Oxfordshire
There has been a Church on the hill above the present day Tackley since at least Norman times, and parts of the nave date from then.  The Church was significantly extended westwards and eastwards in mediaeval times, and also extensively repaired and reordered after the tower was hit by lightening on a Monday afternoon in 1862.  It is an ancient treasure, which subject to the success of our current appeal (see www.warmerwelcome.com) will soon be equipped with the modern facilities of a toilet and kitchenette.

The Church is built in the shape of a cross which is a reminder of the reason for it being there.  It is the place where every generation is invited to be friends with God, through the amazing person Jesus Christ, whose death on a cross made such friendship possible.  It remains the focus (with the village Methodist church) of regular village worship, as well as being the place where we may bring to God our deepest sorrows and greatest joys.

The Church holds regular morning and evening services most Sundays.  Please see www.achurchnearyou.com (Type in Tackley and follow the link) to see the current service schedule.  We usually number 10-15 worshippers at each service, so you can be assured of a personal welcome if you join us.

Warmer Welcome Appeal

The Warmer Welcome Appeal is focused on raising money to fund the renovation and improvement of St Nicholas' Church, Tackley which is over 1,000 years old. The appeal was launched in June 2008 and will continue for 3 years. The overall target for the fund is £140,000

The church needs to improve its access for disabled visitors, children and families. The appeal will fund the installation of toilets, a special play area for children, new heating and plumbing, access ramps and paths from the road and the renovation of existing features (such as the clock).
