Tackley Notices is a free e-mail mailing service provided exclusively for residents of Tackley Village, and is run by Mary McIntyre. Email notices include information about what is happening in and around Tackley and are sent out on an ad-hoc basis. The village freecycle listings are also emailed out weekly.
To sign up to Tackley Notices, click here and fill out the subscription form. Note that for legal reasons you must fill out the form yourself so we have an explicit record of your consent to be on the mailing list. Once you’ve signed up make sure you check your spam folder to make sure our messages aren’t ending up there.
Notices may include social events, Parish Council reports, and other information which may be useful to people of the village, such as local road closures and rail disruptions. Unfortunately we cannot publicise commercial ventures unless they’re of direct benefit to the village community, however the printed Tackley Newsletter has very reasonable rates. For the Tackley Newsletter page, click here.
To Post a Notice or Details of an Event:
If you are holding an event or have a notice you would like circulated, e-mail the details to notices@tackleyvillage.co.uk and we’ll circulate it for you. We reserve the right to refuse emails if they contain offensive, inflammatory or potentially litigious content.
Please be sure to include the subject, brief description and your name and contact details in the body of the email. For accessibility and inclusion reasons we need all email text in plain text format so if you send us a photograph of some text, please also include the text in your email request. If you want to include a flyer or poster as well, please send it in PDF or JPEG form. For further guidance please see here. In particular remember that not everyone knows you or your event, so saying “contact Fred” or “at the usual time and place” won’t mean much to many people, and will make newcomers to the village not feel welcome to your event.
Privacy Notice
When you sign up to Tackley Village Notices or Freecycle we keep a record of your name and email address. This information will only be used for the purposes of sending out Notices and Freecycle emails and we will not disclose it to anyone other than to prevent fraud or if required to do so by law.
If you would like to see the information we hold on you please contact us. If you do not want us to hold this information you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email we send out.
Email Notices Rules:
Our village website and email notices system is a free service which provides information about events and services within the village and occasionally from other nearby towns and villages. We do not provide free advertising or promotion for commercial businesses and services. The only exceptions we make are the village shop and pub, which are both community assets and act as hubs for the village. Hence we will circulate information about events at the shop and pub.
So what can we post?
If you are running an event which is raising money for charity, or which benefits the community in some way, then we are happy to share it. For example, the annual scouts fireworks event or other fundraising events taking place at the village hall.
If your company is running a promotion which benefits the village, for example a donation from each sale being given to the village hall or school, then we can share it.
If your club or society is holding its regular meeting or is holding a special event, then we are happy to promote it.
If you wish to promote your commercial business, then the printed village newsletter linked above is the best offers very competitive advertising rates.
